MPA 2015 Spring Seminar
MPA’s Spring Seminar will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This professional development event is a great opportunity to learn something new, enhance your current skill(s), and network with fellow paralegals. Do you need CLE credits? Well if so, look no further. This event is perfect for you. The National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) has approved the event for 4.0 CLE hours. The speakers and topics are as follows:

Topic: Why Every Fashion House Needs a Good Legal Department

Topic: The Criminal Justice System and the Paralegal’s Role
Jessica I, Morris, Esq., from Adams & Reese will be our speaker for the lunch hour (12:00-1:00 p.m.). Her topic is “Employment Law”.

Blair E. Batson Children Hospital
MPA is currently accepting donations for the Blair E. Batson Children Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Donations will be accepted from now until December 1, 2014. Please contact a MPA board member should you wish to donate to this worthy cause.
1. Toiletries – Any type of toiletry such as soap, lotion, mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, wipes, and any other type of toiletries. This is much needed at both hospitals. Usually parents do not know when they are coming to Blair E. Batson, so the hospital provides the parents toiletries. This is very much needed; and/or
2. Magazines – Any type of magazines that are in good condition. Parents like to have them and read them. Sometimes they do not want to turn the television on after their son or daughter has drifted off to sleep, so they read magazines.

The February 2015 luncheon will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Capital Club (Downtown Jackson), 125 South Congress Street, Jackson, MS 39201. Our speaker will be Assistant District Attorney Walter Bleck, Esq., with the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office, and the topic will be “Grand Jury Process and Jury Nullification”. The luncheon will be buffet style. Please make plans to attend.
The luncheon fee for all locations is $17.00, which includes parking for the Capital Club. The Remote Location will not meet this month. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org by 12:00 noon on the Monday before the luncheon if you plan to attend – and designate which location you will be attending. Please remember if you make reservations to attend the luncheon and do not attend, you will be responsible for the $17.00.
