Blair E. Batson Children Hospital

MPA is currently accepting donations for the Blair E. Batson Children Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Donations will be accepted from now until December 1, 2014. Please contact a MPA board member should you wish to donate to this worthy cause.

  Items Needed:

1.     Toiletries – Any type of toiletry such as soap, lotion, mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, wipes, and any other type of toiletries. This is much needed at both hospitals.  Usually parents do not know when they are coming to Blair E. Batson, so the hospital provides the parents toiletries. This is very much needed;  and/or

 2.     Magazines – Any type of magazines that are in good condition.  Parents like to have them and read them. Sometimes they do not want to turn the television on after their son or daughter has drifted off to sleep, so they read magazines.

Habitat for Humanity


MPA will be volunteering to help build a Habitat for Humanity House on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  

At Least 15 People Are Needed To Make This Project A Success!

Cheers for a Cause

“Cheers for a Cause” a wine, food, & art fundraiser will take place on May 15, 2014 at The Commons Hall & Gallery at Eudora Welty located at 719 North Congress Street; Jackson, MS 39216 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Guest will get a chance to drink, eat, view/purchase spectacular artwork from Mississippi Artist as well as participating in a silent auction, all while supporting a noteworthy cause.  The renowened Southern Komfort Brass Band will be perfoming LIVE.  A portion of all proceeds collected will benefit The Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence.  Come on out and support this worthy cause.


The April 2014 luncheon will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Capital Club (Downtown Jackson), 125 South Congress Street, Jackson, MS 39201. The luncheon will be buffet style. This month’s speaker will be LaKeysha Greer Isaac, Esq. of Cosmich, Simmons & Brown, PLLC and her topic will be The Indispensable Paralegal:  Top Ten Tips for Managing People, Priorities, and Problems.

The luncheon fee for all locations is $17.00, which includes parking for the Capital Club. The Remote Location will be announced soon. Please email secretary@msparalegals.org by 12:00 noon on the Monday before the luncheon if you plan to attend – and designate which location you will be attending. Please remember if you make reservations to attend the luncheon and do not attend, you will be responsible for the $17.00.

As in the past year with Skype, members can view the luncheon speaker individually but the method is now through Livestream. If you plan to participate via Livestream, please notify Rachel Nesbit (rnesbit@heilmanlawgroup.com ). You will be responsible for the full cost of the luncheon ($17.00).
